Uploading A File To Google Drive
Google Drive is a file-sharing site like Dropbox and OneDrive.
You need a Google account to use it. Once you’ve uploaded the file, you send a link to another person and they can
download it. The advantage of using Google Drive or another file-sharing service is that you have virtually no limit on
file size (Google Drive has a total limit of 15GB).
Upload your file
Open a new tab on Google Chrome and tap the 9-dot icon at the top right of the window, then click Drive:
The Drive window will open:
Click the + New button, choose File upload, browse to the file you want to upload, select it then click Open.
You can monitor the upload process at the bottom right of the Drive window.
Set Access Permissions
After the upload is complete, locate the file in the Drive file list.
Right-click it, choose Share then Share
You’ll end up with this screen:
Under General Access, set the droplist to Anyone with the link.
Click Copy link, then Done.
You can now send the link to anybody you choose and they will be able to download your file provided they have a
Google account.
Anyone with the link is similar to Youtube’s Unlisted category: nobody can find/view it unless they have the link.
Viewing your file on Google Drive
The receiver must have a google account and be logged in. They will be presented with a similar display to this in their
email:
They can either download it with the Download button or play it by clicking on the thumbnail.
