Problem

For images of exactly 720x576 and 720x480, Magix NLEs have a bug where they import incorrectly. If an image of exactly 720x576 or 720x480 is imported into any movie frame size, Magix incorrectly stretches the image vertically or horizontally to fill the window. All other image dimensions, even 721x576, are not affected by this and will import correctly. For example, with movie settings of 720x480, 4:3, this is how Magix imports a 720x480 image, vertically stretched (the black object is a pure circle): After the image aspect ratio is set to “3:2” or “1.5”, the vertical stretch removed and the image displays correctly with “letterboxing” black bars top and bottom:

Solution

The image aspect needs be reset to the correct shape by changing the Object Properties>Aspect Ratio (RC on image on timeline) back to whatever the actual image dimensions are eg for 720x576: “5:4” or “1.25” or for a 720x480 image: “3:2” or “1.5”.
